What is...
lash tech insurance?
As a lash tech, your work is all about precision and beauty. But what happens when things don’t go to plan? Lash tech insurance can help protect your business from the unexpected, whether it’s a client injury, damaged tools, or a disaster at your studio.
At Bionic, we make finding the right cover simple. Whether you’re working in a salon, running a home studio, or offering mobile services, we’ll compare quotes to help you find the right cover for your lash business.
Why do lash techs need insurance?
Even the most careful lash techs can still face risks. The right insurance can help keep your business covered in situations like:
- An adhesive you use causes harm to a client
- Your lash tools and equipment are stolen or damaged
- A client slips and falls in your salon or workspace
- A fire or disaster damages your workplace
With the right cover in place, you can focus on creating flawless lashes without worrying about the “what-ifs.”
What does lash tech insurance cover?
Every lash tech practice is different, policies will vary per provider, and terms and conditions apply, so always check the small print in your policy wording to see what’s included and excluded. Your insurance package might include:
Public liability insurance

Employers’ liability insurance

Business interruption insurance
Business equipment insurance

What doesn’t it cover?
While lash tech insurance covers plenty, you can expect to see some exclusions, including:
- Intentional damage – Damage caused on purpose isn’t covered.
- Neglect – Failing to maintain or secure your equipment can void your policy.
- General wear and tear – Normal ageing or wear on your tools and equipment isn’t included.
Double-check your policy details or speak to our team if you have any questions about what’s covered and what isn’t.
How much does lash tech cover cost?
Prices could start from around 23p a day*.
But your business is unique, and your price can depend on a number of factors, including:
- Your business setup — Salon-based, home studio or mobile services may carry different risks.
- Extent of cover — The more cover you opt for, the more expensive your package will likely be.
- Your insurer — Depending on who is willing to insure you, the price for their policies will vary.
- Location — The location of your business is taken into consideration when calculating the cost of your premiums.
- Claims history — If you’ve made a previous claim on your policy or had claims made against you, it may affect your future premiums.
*The price is for a trades and professions policy – 10% of customers who were sold with one of our panel providers paid £84.20 or less annually (excluding any additional administration fees) between 01/01/25 & 31/12/2025. Equivalent to £7.02 a month or £0.23 a day (and excludes the extra costs for paying monthly). Your actual policy and price may vary depending on your business requirements.
Do you need insurance for other beauty treatments?
Yes, if you provide other beauty treatments like brow laminations or facials, your policy will need to reflect this. Get in touch with our insurance team who can help you find the right level of cover for your business.
Do you need cover if you rent a chair in a salon?
If you rent a chair in a salon, you’ll still need to consider public liability to cover your work and protect against claims.
What qualifications do you need to get insurance?
Although not a legal requirement, insurers will expect you to hold the relevant qualifications to take out insurance. For example:
- An accredited lash extension qualification, such as:
- NVQ Level 2 in Beauty Therapy
- Specialised eyelash extension certification from a recognized training provider
- Core beauty therapy certification like:
- VTCT (Vocational Training Charitable Trust) qualification
- CIBTAC (Confederation of International Beauty Therapy & Cosmetology) certification
- CIDESCO (Comité International d'Esthétique et de Cosmétologie) diploma
Most insurance providers will also want your certification to include specific training in:
- Health and safety
- Hygiene practices
- Patch testing
- Client consultation procedures
